Greetings! I am thrilled and honored to serve as the Richland #44 superintendent and the principal of our Junior/Senior High School. I became the Jr/Sr HS principal in 2018 and last year added the role of superintendent. Going into my second year in the combined position is an exciting one and – as we all know – a year of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While I cannot claim North Dakota as my homeland, I am so glad to be living here now. I am a Washington State native but my maternal grandfather was raised in Fosston, Minnesota. If there is anything I have learned while living in this great state and working in Richland #44, it is that the people are incredible. We have the kindest families, the most respectful students, and an incredible staff that is committed to every child’s success. I continue to be thankful to be a Richland Colt.
Our mission is educating students to be responsible citizens and leaders, which is also described in our district’s strategic plan. My goal is that our Richland Colts receive a high-quality education that prepares them for whatever they dream about, while also equipping them with the skills to give back to their communities and to be leaders in their careers and homes.
This year, we maintain that same goal coupled with the objective of keeping students and staff safe in a global pandemic. Our Richland #44 Smart Restart Plan has been created to incorporate health and safety measures while finding the best way to teach our kids.
Communication with our families, students, staff, and external stakeholders is key to maintaining a strong school district. I encourage families to reach out to me with questions or concerns at any time.
While it may be a strange year, we will make it a great one. We will do it together, Colt Country!
