Richland #44 Families,
We are so excited for the 2021-2022 school year and all the fun, excitement and learning to be had. It is hard to believe that we are in our 3rd school year living with the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are optimistic that this will be a healthy year for everyone. We ended our previous Return to Learn Plan on June 1, 2021, and have not been extended those specific mitigation strategies into this school year. Students and staff are welcome to choose their own mitigation strategies (i.e., wearing a mask), but this is not required. Our school board will continue to evaluate Covid cases and new information as it becomes available.
Our mission at Richland #44 is educating students to be responsible citizens and leaders. To us this means that we will educate our students on what they need to move on to the next grade level and ultimately graduation, but also to be valuable and productive members of society who give pack to their communities. Academics and life skills are both so important; having students who are well-rounded – with the capability to demonstrate high levels of learning but also be able to speak well, care for others, and develop useful skills – is something we highly value.
Our district’s vision it to empower and engage ALL to succeed in an inclusive, student-centered environment that promotes learning and growth. We will accomplish this by utilizing a standards-referenced curriculum that focuses on the overall development of academic skills, technology literacy, and life skills. An inclusive, student-centered environment means that we provide an environment in which all students can feel comfortable and welcomed. Our students are so unique and have different strengths and weaknesses, meaning we are purposeful about meeting the needs of all of our students. Academically, we follow North Dakota state standards and align curriculum to those standards.
We have a wonderful history of pride, strong achievement, and a wonderful community and staff. Despite this success, our goal is to improve our reading and math achievement scores each year. We will continue to find ways to deliver high-quality education while adjusting for students who are struggling or who may need to be challenged.
I value the relationships I have with our students, families, staff, and community, and therefore welcome feedback and discussion. Do not hesitate to reach out – even if for a cup of coffee – and help us work together to continue to make Richland #44 the best school district for your children.
