Smart Restart Update – 9/23/2020
Good Afternoon Richland #44, As you may know, earlier today the governor moved Richland County to the yellow COVID-19 risk level, which is considered moderate risk. Despite this change to our county, at this time Richland #44 School District will remain in Plan A: In-Person Instruction. The reason for us choosing not to change tier […]
Richland #44 Smart Restart
The purpose of this reentry plan is to describe the protocols, guidelines, and logistics for returning to school this fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. This plan is fluid; with changing guidance and research, this plan may change at any time. If and when it does, we will communicate that to all parents, staff, and students as quickly as possible.
This plan was created with the safety of students and staff at the forefront and with guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), North Dakota Department of Health, and Richland County Health Department. We know that in-person instruction is the most effective method for students to learn and recognize that in order for that to happen and continue to happen, clear health and safety protocols must be in place.
Our reentry plan committee consisted of staff volunteers from both of our buildings. I want to thank them for their time and commitment to a solid plan during their summer break. Members include:
Laura Baker | Britney Gandhi | Amanda Jacobson |
Tony Boehm | Sheila Gunness | Chris Potter |
Tiffany Carlson | Jill Harris | Dawn Storbakken |
Monica Clark | Elicia Hofmann | Spencer Timm |
Kendra Dockter | Melissa Hudson | Lois Vorachek |
I want to thank our school board for their guidance and support throughout this process; they have met more than normal in order to review our suggestions and provide meaningful feedback. I want to thank our parents for their flexibility and understanding as we transition into this school year. Last but certainly not least, I want to thank our Richland students for their patience and positivity as they navigate one of the strangest times in their young lives.
I highly encourage all constituents to review this reentry plan. Protocols for various situations regarding possible COVID-19 spread are included at the end of the document.
As always, please be in touch and ask questions. We will continue to communicate throughout the school year and believe we have a solid plan to keep students and staff safe while delivering high-quality education.
Warmly,
Dr. Britney Gandhi, Superintendent Jr/Sr HS Principal
